Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the top cancer in males and second most common females in Singapore, according tothe Singapore Cancer Registry, Interim Report, 2001-2005. Our numbers are approaching that in developed countries such as US and England and are increasing every year. The risk ratio for an average Singaporean to contract this cancer is about 1 in 50. CRC is more common in people after 50 years old. The peak incidence is people in their 70s. The Chinese has a significantly higher risk than the Malays or Indians. This workshop is for pairs of grandchild and grandparent to learn more about each other through games and exercises, and each workshop can accommodate 10 pairs. It is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Bond Workbook is a full colour 48-page hardcover workbook for pairs of grandchild-grandparent to record their thoughts, feelings and interesting facts about their family, their heritage and their legacy. Topics covered in the scrapbook-style workbook include the family tree, family traditions, recipes, special occasions, family values, environmental issues and more. The workshop and workbook are two parts of The Bond project, which ends with The Bond Exhibition held in August 2010, where completed workbooks of 45 participants whose entries will be picked by lucky draw are showcased. SeniorsView is a new initiative of RSVP's Active Ageing Seniors Programme. It brings together seniors who have a keen interest in photography no matter what level of expertise or knowledge they have on the subject. Each workshop comprises of four theory lessons and two outdoor sessions whereby participants have the opportunity to go outdoors and try the skills they have learnt in class.This workshop is headed by Henry Lim who has more than 27 years of teaching experience in photography in various schools, corporate organisations and community clubs. After over 40 years of overseas living, Amy Lam (an advisor of Agelessonline) returned to research on her roots, gathering branches and leafs with hopes of compiling the family trail -– the Lam heritage (her story is under MY LIFE). Born in Singapore, she was educated and worked in Ireland and Norway teaching music for 20 years, coordinated events and travels in US for 15 years, worked at an advertising agency and coordinated events in Singapore for eight years. She hiked the Appalachian Trail in the US 2,175m/3,500km in 2005 after both her daughters were working and independent with their own lives. Come and hear her story.
