Dragon boat community races

Seniors and cancer survivors competed in the recent DBS Marina Regatta.

 

The Singapore Paddle Club B won the DBS Community Active Warriors Open.

In the DBS Marina Regatta, there were a number of community races involving seniors and cancer survivors. In the DBS Community Active Warriors Open, for paddlers above 50 years of age, Singapore Paddle Club B came in ahead by 57.90sec. Teams from Taman Jurong Seahawk (58.98sec) and Avago Aussie Team (59.22sec) followed.

The Breast Cancer Foundation PIP C team won in the DBS Community Survivor Series (cancer survivor category).

In the DBS Community Survivor Series (cancer survivor category), the Breast Cancer Foundation PIP C won. Shared Yvonne Yik, a paddler from the winning team: “I’m so happy and proud of our team’s win! We trained hard and it’s such an amazing feeling to see our efforts pay off. I’m glad for this opportunity to showcase our fighting spirit.

She added: “Dragon boating is a great exercise for both the body and mind, a healthy escape from our day-to-day challenges. Being on the water, working as a team guided by the steady drumbeat is almost therapeutic.”
