Science Centre’s Dialogue with Time – Embrace Ageing exhibition, the first fully guided exhibition facilitated by senior guides aged 65 and above who help to change visitors’ perceptions on ageing, has six new guides who have joined on through signups and recommendations.

There is Anna See, 72, a former teacher who believes that learning is a lifelong journey. One of the skills she has picked up after her retirement was Chinese opera. Doris Tan, 66, is an active volunteer and is passionate about music. After her retirement, she dedicated her time to learn how to play the guitar. There is Francis Pavri, 74, currently a lecturer at the National University of Singapore. Besides lecturing, he is an avid traveller and recently completed a tour around the US.

There is also Leong Wei Weng, 69, who loves spending time with his children. He also exercises regularly and his usual routine covers 10km weekly with his local walking community. Seventy-one-year-old Manik B Binwani previously worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs and has volunteered overseas in South America and lastly, Sivanesvary Alahakone, 69, who is an avid reader and was previously a lecturer at Republic Polytechnic. She is the only guide who can conduct the exhibition sessions in Tamil.

The permanent exhibition, which opened in late 2017, has already seen more than 90,000 guests to date.
