Walk with your pet

by | June 7, 2017

Singapore Heart Foundation’s second edition of Woof-a-thon is back this year!

Calling all dog lovers and owners! Put your best paws forward and register your furry friends for Woof-a-thon 2017 happening on July 8 from 3pm to 7pm at Bishan-AMK Park, Ficus Green (opposite the dog run area). Back by popular demand, there is no better way to spend a paw-fect Saturday afternoon then at the second pet walkathon by the Singapore Heart Foundation, which advocates the cardiovascular benefits associated with walking your dog.

More than just being man’s best friend, dogs are also our heart’s best allies. Studies have shown that pet ownership, particularly a dog, helps to reduce the risk of heart diseases as people with dogs are more engaged in physical activities like walking. Pet ownership also aids in lowering blood pressure, cholesterol levels and incidence of obesity. Furthermore, the emotional bond owners feel towards their pets, reduces their reaction to stress and lowers their resting heart rate.

Register now to walk alongside other dog-loving individuals and celebrate the joys that your furry friend has brought to you and your heart. For a S$15 registration fee per pet, you and your dog will be able to take part in the 2km ‘Buddy Walk’. If you do not own any pets, fret not – you can still put on your walking shoes and stride towards a healthier heart. Enjoy an active and fun-filled day out with your family and friends, at no cost (registration is only required for dogs)!

At Woof-a-thon 2017, there will be an exciting line-up of activities such as basic health screenings for your dog, educational talks, contests, pet photo booths, a fashionista parade (best dressed dog with a touch of red) and a special Meet-and-Greet session with “Cesar’s Recruit: Asia” semi-finalist from Season 1, Stephanie Keong.

Nap time is over, so hurry and register now at www.myheart.org.sg/woof-a-thon.
