Open-air cinema returns

by | July 20, 2022

Returning for the eight season, the new 11-day film programme includes new release and classic films.

Following on from the sold-out Hendrick’s Sunset Cinema in June, this year’s Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo programme provides open-air cinema lovers with another opportunity to enjoy a night of film, friends, food and wine. The 2022 season will run from August 10 to 21 at Fort Canning Park, Singapore.

Films in this year’s programme include everything from hilarious new releases such as “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” (starring Nicholas Cage) and “Official Competition” (starring Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas) to the Iranian film “A Hero” which won one of the second highest honours at the prestigious Cannes film festival. Open-air cinemagoers will also have the opportunity to take a trip across the major events of the 20th century in the all-time classic – “Forrest Gump” starring Tom Hanks.

While the films are the highlight, Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo offers a complete night out. Filmgoers can choose to arrive when the gates open at 5pm, to relax with a drink and a bite to eat as they picnic on the grass with friends. There’s a fully stocked bar and The Providore has an on-site kitchen serving everything from gourmet meals to desserts and snacks. There’s also a large bar serving a wide selection of refreshing and reasonably priced drinks including Casillero del Diablo wines, beer, cider, Kombucha and other non-alcoholic drinks. DJs and musicians are also present, performing from 5pm until the film screening starts at 7.45pm.

A ticket for a film is S$36.80 and is available for pre-purchase via www.filmsatthefort.com.sg.
